November 2011 Events at the Blount County Public Library
Dear Friends,
A time of harvest, a time of thanksgiving! We hope you have a joyful season of thanks with family and friends!
At the library, several initiatives continue: Career Coach, a bus equipped with internet computers and staff to help with resumé writing, job listings and computers for job search, will visit; the collaborative effort with Office on Aging will continue the series of programs for seniors by addressing Medicare Advantage plans, Supplement plans and Part D plans-and how to select the option that is best for you; and the library invites you to celebrate "Tellabration! Musical Stories and Tales" with storytellers Dianne Hackworth and Faye Wooden who will provide tips on how to establish a legacy of family stories and ballads in your family; and computer courses will continue to be offered, available only by registering at the Reference Desk.
And, believe it or not, holiday concerts begin soon, with the Maryville Area Dulcimer Club kicking off the season with a program of traditional music along with some holiday tunes. Then, on the Monday after Thanksgiving, Rejoice Choir will perform the first full-fledged holiday concert, with other community, schools and church music groups continuing the slate of seasonal music. In the midst of the concerts, on Monday, December 5, the library is working with the City of Maryville Tree Lighting (outdoors for good weather; indoors for inclement weather) and the Parks and Recreation Santa in the Library event where children can greet and have their photograph taken (for FREE!) with the jolly old elf himself!
