The Ex Libris Library Extension Program has been created for the sole purpose of bringing the richness of the library to those members of the community no longer able to avail themselves of library services.
It has never been designed to be a “reading program” whereby volunteers go into facilities to read a specific book or short-story in its entirety to the population.
Programs are intended to be entertaining and informative, constructed so as to match the functional capabilities of the audience. Bits and pieces from books, magazines, newspapers, etc. together with various genres are utilized to create individual programs.
Programs must be of a secular nature and free from politics. At the discretion of the Program Coordinator, presenters may be asked to change portions of their programs should they cross beyond Ex Libris’s intent.
Volunteers are selected to participate in Ex Libris upon the recommendation of the Program Coordinator and Program Director.
Evaluations of presenters are done on a regular basis to make certain that the needs of the audience are being met. Input from Activities Directors determines how best to achieve this goal.
Ex Libris is strictly a volunteer effort in partnership with Blount County Public Library, the Blount County Friends of the Library and the facilities at which we deliver programs. No remuneration is made to either the Program Director, the Program Coordinator or presenters.
