If you or a loved one is under aged 65 and without health insurance, you probably know that you are required (provided you meet income guidelines) to sign up for health insurance in 2016.
There are many plans available and making health care choices can be confusing. Saturday, November 14, at 10 a.m. is your one opportunity this year in Blount County to hear about ―Health Insurance Marketplace Changes for 2016 from Laura Sell, Regional Outreach Volunteer with the Tennessee Health Care Campaign.
She will explain the ins-and-outs of the plans related to the Affordable Care Act at the Blount County Public Library. Assisters will also be available for appointments between at 10 am – 4 pm that day.
This will be a program to provide information to assist with making appropriate insurance plan choices that are best for your situation. This is NOT a program hosted by an insurance company, and no insurance plans will be available for sale. The goal for this program is solely to help consumers make informed decisions.
Sell has been instrumental in offering marketplace (ACA) enrollment assistance to the community at the Blount County Public Library since 2013. Her presentation will include the information about:
- ACA Marketplace: what’s new this year
- Insurance companies offering plans
- Provider Networks & Prescription coverage choices
- Co-Pays, Coinsurance and Deductibles
- Pricing of plans and subsidies (financial help)
- Tax penalties for lack of insurance
- Fraud Prevention
Sell will discuss Marketplace plans, TennCare, Insure Tenn for those in the Coverage GAP, and Safety Net programs. She will remain after the presentation to answer individual questions.
Volunteers will also be on hand to provide basic eligibility information and help direct people to appointments for further assistance. Participants are encouraged to visit www.healthcare.gov prior to the presentation to review the latest information on the Healthcare Marketplace and come to the presentation with their questions.
