The Knoxville Opera Company will perform a mini-version of Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel opera, under the direction of Brian Salesky, Conductor and Executive Director, on Saturday, January 16, at 11 a.m.
Three performers, playing Hansel, Gretel and the witch will reveal the full story. There will be three sets for the three scenes: the children’s cottage home, the forest where the children lose their way, and the witch’s gingerbread house. Chrystal Williams appears as Hansel, Lindsay Russell as Gretel, and Jennifer Roderer as the witch.
Following the condensed fairy tale opera, there will be a question and answer session with the performers and Brian Salesky.
Parents and teachers are encouraged to bring children/students to enjoy this fairy tale brought to life in song and dramatic action. The performance will be at the Reading Rotunda end of the Main Gallery of the library.
