Paintings of Maryville folk artist RaRa Schlitt will be exhibited in the Blount County Public Library prior to an auction from which all proceeds will benefit the Children’s Department. RaRa Schlitt has been creating art as long as she can remember and finds this area “very inspirational” according to an interview published in The Daily Times. Many of her works feature people going about everyday activities, as well as children, animals, and landscapes. RaRa is most well-known for her acrylic paintings, which capture the emotions of all types of people.
The artist and her husband have lived here over two decades, moving to Blount County after many enjoyable vacations in the Smokies. They were married in a ceremony on the Appalachian Trail. Schlitt is not only a renowned folk artist who inspires others to enjoy and create their own art, but a practicing physical therapist, the mother of five children, and an active member of the Blount County visual arts community.
