What Baby Boomers Need to Know about Social Security

Savvy Social Security planning can make a big difference in maximizing retirement income. Kevin Proffitt, Certified Financial Planner® and Wealth Management Advisor, will address frequently asked questions about Social Security at an informational meeting on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 7 p.m. at the Blount County Public Library.

What Baby Boomers Need to Know About Social Security, will address a range of topics including:

  • Will Social Security be there for me?
  • How much can I expect to receive?
  • When should I apply for Social Security?
  • How can I maximize my benefits?
  • Will Social Security be enough to live on in retirement?

Kevin ProffittProffitt, a graduate of Maryville High School and Middle Tennessee State University, is Managing Director of Northwestern Mutual in Knoxville. Responsible for the recruiting and development of Financial Advisors in the Knoxville office, he has been Managing Director of the 52-member team since 2007 and has been with the company for 29 years. Northwestern Mutual is a Fortune 100 company founded in 1858.

Past President of the East Tennessee Chapter of the Financial Planning Association, Proffitt serves on the Advisory Boards of Directors of the Boy Scouts of America Great Smoky Mountain Council, The Clayton Arts Center and the Boys and Girls Club of Blount County. He is a past president of Maryville Kiwanis, The Society of Financial Service Professionals (Knoxville Chapter), and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisor (Knoxville Chapter). Proffitt lives in Maryville with his wife Kimberly and two children, Kevin and Kelsey.


Open to the public, this program will be hosted by the Blount County Public Library, located at 508 N. Cusick Street, Maryville, where services are an example of your tax dollars at work for you.
