Membership in the Blount County Friends of the Library is worthwhile, interesting, and fun. We are definitely a lively group, currently logging over 16,000 volunteer hours annually!
Income from the quarterly book sales, dues, and donations support the library with equipment (and matching grants for equipment), operating expenses, the Bookmark Café, and programs such as Hot Summer Nights, Shakespeare on the Lawn, reading programs, workshops, book publishing, and the Southern Appalachian Studies series.
Volunteers spent thousands of hours working at the book sales, serving on the Friends Board, distributing books and programs to nursing homes and assisted living centers, attending library book clubs, writing newsletters, designing publicity, and sending books to the homebound and the Blount County Justice Center facility.
