Membership in the Blount County Friends of the Library is worthwhile, interesting, and fun. We are definitely a lively group, currently logging over 10,000 volunteer hours annually.
Income from quarterly book sales, dues, and donations supports the library with equipment (and matching grants for equipment), operating expenses, the Bookmark Café, and programs such as Hot Summer Nights, Shakespeare on the Lawn, reading programs, workshops, book publishing, and the Southern Appalachian Studies series.
Volunteers work at our book sales, serve on the Friends Board, write newsletters, design publicity, provide interactive programs at nursing homes and assisted living centers and send books to the homebound, select donated books for the Blount County Justice Center facility, stock neighborhood “little libraries” and much more!
